Hello Marlins!

We’re less than a week away from our first practice. I am very excited to be returning as your head coach and look forward to a fun season.

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Tyler Mazurek. I have been with this team since our inaugural year in 2005. I started swimming year-round at Swim Atlanta shortly after and am still swimming as a member of the UGA Club Swim Team. Swimming has meant a lot to me over the years and has brought me to many places around the world. As a coach, I hope to share my experiences and knowledge with our team.

Last season, my number one goal was to make being a part of the Edinburgh Marlins Swim Team a fun experience. Swimming should be fun, and that is still my goal moving into this season. Beyond that, my goal is to get as many swimmers as possible improving their times each week and working towards County Championships at the conclusion of the season.

There are a few things that I wanted to remind everyone of before we get started with the season.

• The coaching staff is more than happy to assist in anything you need, but please refrain from doing so while instruction is happening.
• I have a unique practice plan where each day of the week we will focus on something different. Please help me in getting everyone in the pool for every practice. This is especially true for the first few weeks where the coaching staff will be starting with the basics.
• Meet entries will be done a little differently this year. Please be sure to RSVP on Swimtopia if your swimmer is NOT able to attend. As in past years, if they are entered and do not attend, they will be removed from the relays in the next meet. I will be sending out more information about this soon.
• Please mark your calendars for County Championships which will occur July 13-14. Weekly rankings will be posted by Gwinnett County Swim League each week so you can track your swimmers progress. I would love for everyone who qualifies to attend!
