lots of county info - please read!

Hello Marlins!!  Who is ready for our last meet of the season tonight?!

If you saw the subject line and thought, "my kid won't make county so I don't have to read this," you may be right but a LOT can still happen tonight!  We have several swimmers who are on the "bubble" with their individual times, not to mention the kiddos who are jockeying for a spot on a relay.  So please review this information.

  • County practices - new this year, the coaches are consolidating the county practices into one practice time.  Practices will be from 9:00-10:00 on Wednesday, July 3,  Friday July 5, and the week of July 8-12.  As the meet gets closer, practices may taper off a bit, but for now, plan on this schedule.
  • Event selection - if your child has qualified for more than 3 individual events, Coach Tyler will be reaching out to you and your child to pick their best events to swim at the meet.
  • GA Tech's tech suit policy - thank you Jamie Reinhold for sharing this with me.  Most year round swimmers should know this policy, but for the definitions, county is NOT considered a Championship meet, so essentially no swimmer under the age of 12 will be allowed to wear any kneeskin or any tech suit period. There are some "tech suits" that look like regular suits for girls and boys, but if they have bonded (rather than stitched) seams they are prohibited. If any U12 swimmers wear these kind of suits, objections can be made by coaches only, so there is definitely some subjectivity. But in keeping with sportsmanship and the rules, no swimmer should attempt to wear these suits.  https://www.teamunify.com/lscszgs/__eventform__/976033_Georgia%20Swimming%20Tech%20Suit%20Restrictions%20-%20final%20draft.pdf
  • Volunteers - as you all know, a meet cannot run without volunteers. The county meet runs the same way!  All teams are required to provide volunteers for specified duties.  More information coming soon...Thank you in advance for your willingness to help out!!
