Hey Marlins!
It's been a rough past few months for everybody, but we hope you and your loved ones are all safe and secure. With that being said, we want to keep everybody safe and well.
As you will read below, the GCSL has suspended the summer swim season. The council and HOA tried to put together a conditioning season for the Marlins; however, doing so would place budgetary and liability issues on Edinburgh and the swim team that we cannot shoulder. Most importantly, it would be near impossible to guarantee proper social distancing and disinfecting of surfaces to preserve the safety of our swimmers' safety and well-being and those of their families. Therefore, the Edinburgh Marlins 2020 swim season will be suspended.
Over the next two weeks, we will be reaching out to you to refund your payments. We want to thank you for your continued support and membership with the Edinburgh Marlins; we're looking forward to making next season an awesome return.
Go Marlins!
Jake Edwards,
Chair, Edinburgh Marlins Swim Team

Dear Council and Head Coaches- Tonight I am sharing some challenging news. No one could have foreseen the disruptions we are experiencing due to COVID-19. The spread of this virus has resulted in significant changes in our daily lives. Despite our best efforts to adjust and try to push back the start to the swim season, we have come to the conclusion that we cannot safely proceed with the 2020 GCSL Summer Swim Season. Over the last nine weeks, the Board of Directors has conducted numerous meetings and phone conferences to identify all options possible in order to proceed with the season. We appreciated everyone who filled out the google survey with your teams input. Based on commentary from the Federal, State, Local Government and the CDC’s new requirements to open aquatic facilities, there is no way to adequately have our team council maintain social distance, disinfect and keep everyone safe around the pool with the number of participants and spectators at each swim meet and practice session. We know there will be great disappointment. We too are disappointed. However, part of our objectives for a successful swim season includes keeping our swimmers, their families, and the spectators safe. We understand that there will be many questions due to the cancellation of the GCSL Swim Season. Here are some key details currently:
- Swimmer Fees ($15) collected via GCSL will be fully refunded- More details on this process will come later this week from Kari, the league treasure.
- Each Team will communicate their OWN reimbursement processes to their families
- There will be no sponsored GCSL events this year; including group gatherings, practices, or swim meets.
- There will be a mass email sent tomorrow, May 13th to all registered emails within Swimtopia to relay this message directly from your GCSL board to your team families.
The Board is already looking ahead and planning for the 2021 season. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time and wish you and your families a safe and healthy summer. Stay well, Your GCSL Board of Directors
