Volunteer Information: Please Sign up!

Hello Marlins,

The Edinburgh Marlins swim team is comprised of volunteers.

Without volunteers, our team is not possible.

Each family is required to give their time and volunteer on our committee, or at our meets. In a traditional season, one volunteer per meet must be provided per family.

This year we will have limited volunteers on deck due to the nature of virtual meets and COVID safety protocols. While families may not have to work each meet, we WILL need volunteers to run our meets.

Volunteers will be the only ones on deck this season. No spectators will be permitted on the upper deck or in the pool area at all, so if you would like to watch your kids compete, volunteering is the way to do it!

We are looking for volunteers to fill the following important trained positions:

Stroke & Turn Judge: Volunteer officials positioned at the end of the pool. On pool deck. If a judge sees something illegal, a swimmer may be disqualified. Minimum needed trained: (2-3)

Starter: The official in charge of signaling the beginning of a race and ensuring that all swimmers have a fair takeoff. On pool deck. Minimum needed trained: (2-3/1 position filled)

Computers: Volunteer committee members trained to enter times/data into the computer's new virtual Maestro system during the meet. Committee members receive 1 free swimmer. Indoors/Air conditioned. Minimum needed trained: (1-2)

Our trained positions will attend brief, Zoom training sessions in May.

Additionally, we will need a minimum of 7 timers at each meet. Timers can be easily assigned, but if you would like to time regularly, let us know.

Please respond to this email if you would like to fill one of these positions.

We appreciate your help,

Edinburgh Marlins
