2022 season news
Good Morning, Marlins!
We are thrilled to announce Krista Barley has offered to step up and lead our team as Head Council next year.
Krista and her family recently moved to Edinburgh from Palmyra, Pennsylvania. She has quickly become involved in our community, captaining a ladies tennis team this winter and now taking over the Marlins. Krista's children have never swam competitively, but are excited to join us. Krista swam as a child and her father was supposed to swim in the Olympics, but a cancer diagnosis in his 20s stopped his plans. She can't wait to get involved and meet our team!
We are hoping to give Krista the support she needs with a wonderful committee to help her. We still have several committee positions open that can be filled by residents or non residents. The positions offer one free swimmer (50 percent off registration for shared positions) and committee members do not work meets unless their position entails it.
Sunday, January 9th at 6 p.m. at the Edinburgh Residents Clubhouse (pool clubhouse) anyone interested in shaking things up this season, learning about the committee positions, or willing to help plan is encouraged to join us for an informal planning meeting for the 2022 season.
Some of the positions we would love to fill, number of people needed, and a brief description are:
- Treasurer (1)- paying coaches, reimbursing committee members, collecting registration fees
- Recruitment (1)- helping promote our team and build our team back up in creative ways; recruiting friends & neighbors; devising incentives for potential swimmers
- Sponsorship (1-2)- securing sponsors for our season and planning a team fundraiser
- Head of Concessions (1-2)- shop for concessions items and arrive early to set up concessions (home meets only)
- Coach Liaison (1) - hiring coaches; acting as a liaison for coaches during the season
Our pandemic-related canceled and altered seasons significantly impacted our team and we are excited to begin rebuilding the Marlins in subsequent seasons. We urge you to pitch in and get more involved if you can.
Happy Holidays!
