Meet Dates and Practice Times

To all Marlins and future Marlins,

Exact practice times are still being worked out with our new coach, but here is some general information for you to consider as you think about registration.  The swim season will begin on May 9, with after school practices. We will transition to morning practices the day after school gets out.  We will have six Thursday night meets and the season is over by the end of June.  For those that qualify, the County Championship will be held July 8-10 at Georgia Tech.  Attached is the schedule of meet dates.

Practice Times

Again, this is NOT exact, but typically after school practices fall into 3 times:

4:00-5:00 -Elementary Age swimmers

5-5:30-  6 and Under swimmers

5:30-6:30-  Middle school and up

We encourage swimmers to make as many practices as possible, knowing that there are many end-of-year conflicts.

Morning Practice Schedule (to begin May 26):

Practice times will be divided by age groups (TBD), but will fall into at least 3 practice times, between the hours of 8:00-11:00.  Length of each practice group will be between 1-1.5 hours, (except for the 6 unders and mini- Marlins).  We will share the breakdown of morning practice times as soon as it's determined.  Based on the number of registered swimmers in each age group, the coach will determine the best combo of age groups so each swimmer will get optimal practice time.

Additionally, we will offer EVENING PRACTICE on Mondays and Wednesdays for working families or when swimmers may have a day camp/class that conflicts with the mornings.  There will be a sign up sheet for evening practice on a week to week basis.

The more practice a swimmer puts in, the more they get out of it!  We ask that swimmers attend practice regularly as much as possible.  But we know that life happens and summer is a time of vacations and camps ;-) We try to give as much opportunity for your swimmer to improve AND accommodate your family's needs.
