Last Chance Info and Volunteers
Good afternoon, Marlins-
Hard to believe we're running our last regular season meet tomorrow! This meet will be a little different in format because it's going to be relatively small with only our swimmers here. We're going with minimal set-up and simplified format. If you signed up to swim in the Last Chance Meet (tomorrow, 27th), here is the info you need to know:
Check-in and Bullpen:
Swimmer check-in will be at 5:00 ! Please check in at the table so we know you are here. Warm-ups will begin at 5:30 and meet starting promptly at 6:00. The bullpen for all swimmers will be on deck, under the patio. Swimmers MUST stay in bullpen at all times and return to bullpen immediately after swims. The meet will move fairly quick so it's important that you get back to the bullpen and await your next event. Just bring a small chair or towels to sit on in bullpen since it will be on deck.
Parents: Please use the usual side of the pool (facing the clubhouse) if you are able to sit and spectate. It will give the bullpen and staging more room near the clubhouse for swimmers. And please keep both ends of pool clear for timers and officials.
Volunteers
There is only one shift of volunteers for this meet because it will be so short! All volunteers please check in at the table by 5:15. I am attaching the volunteer list to this email so please read carefully. ;-)
Format of Meet
The pace of the meet will be quicker than normal because we won't have many heats per event. We will adjust pace as we go so that swimmers will have adequate rest between events, but they should expect less time in between their swims. We will only be using 3 lanes for races. Swimmers will be called from the bullpen and go directly to line up on buckets behind blocks as their "staging". We are trying to avoid any swimmers swimming alone in their event, so you may find (especially in the older age groups) that boys and girls of the same age may combine their events and swim against each other. This is better from a competition stand point to help push each swimmer.
Concessions
We will be doing Last Chance Concessions as well!! ;-) We will be selling whatever is left over from the season until it runs out, so please help us clear the shelves! Primarily we have chips, candy, popsicles, water and sodas--so only plan on light snacks to get you thru the meet! Feel free to bring your own food if you wish.
Weather
Some showers or storms are possible in the evening tomorrow. We know this meet is important to our swimmers so we will do whatever we can to get it done! Luckily with the smaller numbers and simple format, we will have some wiggle room if we need to wait it out. Please don't leave if we encounter a delay!
Ribbons/Practice
There is a good chance that much of the ribbons will be done shortly after the meet concludes if you'd like to wait and see. Otherwise, I will leave the family file folders for the coaches to have out during the morning county practice hours. They will also be available for pick up at our end of season banquet on July 14.
** Remember, beginning on Tuesday/27th, practice hours are ONLY for those swimmers competing in the county swim meet.**
I will send out a heat sheet tomorrow. We look forward to some FAST SWIMS and hope everyone has a great meet! Thank you all for the time and effort you put into these meets!
